such great heights

for some bizarre reason i thought climbing bierstadt at the tush-crack of dawn on a friday morning sounded like a cool idea.
11,700 ft. elev: "it doesn't look that far"
12,100 ft. elev: "i...can't...breathe"
12,203 ft. elev: "do i have asthma?"
12,249 ft. elev: "we're almost there, right?"
around the corner 12,251 ft. elev: "uh, nope"
13,307 ft. elev: "what the heck was i thinking at 5am this morning?"
13,989 ft. elev: "how steady is this edge of snow we're standing on?"
14,060ft. elev: "wow...(gasp)....what...(gasp)...a....(must have oxygen!)...view"
i sit there trying to figure out why i'd ever be satisfied to live in any other state. then the wind picks up for a few lengthy bitterly cold seconds as i'm perched precariously on a rock pile and i start to fantisize about hawaii.

ahh, my heart is a fickle one.

i'm like a bird

my sister leaves for Europe this weekend and she's not taking me with her. she mentioned something about being responsible and having to go for the sake of her job. i wanted to call her selfish for not even offering to beg her company to buy me a ticket too.

send me on my way

i should be satisfied to be a couch potato but i've been cursed with more motivated friends who know how to lay on the peer pressure. the future pain of the run seems less daunting than the taunts and jeers of my so-called friends. i'm such a cheap conformist.

iron and wine beats postal

my travels and excursions have now led me to my sleepy little town of denver. i'm sure some of you have heard of it. since i miss outside factors such as african cop pullovers (not the sweaters), marriage proposals for green cards, losing myself in translations and public transportations, and questionable food offerings, all of which give inspiration for blogworthy reports i am now reduced to more internal ponderings like -which job shall i try my hand at now?
